Florida Divison Of Community Colleges To Announce 2007 All-Florida Academic Team
~Recognition event will honor 110 outstanding community college students~
Education Commissioner Jeanine Blomberg tomorrow will join Representative Dennis Baxley, Representative Dave Murzin, community college presidents and other Department of Education officials in Tallahassee to announce the members of the 2007 All-Florida Academic Team. The team is comprised of community college students who were nominated by their respective colleges to the All-USA Academic Team competition sponsored by USA Today and Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. The 2007 New Century Scholar, Florida’s top two-year college student, will also be announced.
Tycia Foster, President of Phi Theta Kappa International, will speak to students. Foster, a student at Tallahassee Community College, is the first African-American female to hold this office in the Society's 89-year history.
All honorees will receive Phi Theta Kappa medallions, and will spend the day learning about leadership, the legislative process, and visiting with college and university admissions directors.
The event is sponsored by The Florida Division of Community Colleges, The Foundation for Florida’s Community Colleges, AIG VALIC, and Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.
The 2007 All-Florida Academic Team Awards event will be held:
