Juvenile Justice Educational Enhancement

The Juvenile Justice Educational Enhancement Program (JJEEP)
JJEEP is a discretionary project funded by the Department of Education and managed by the School of Criminology at Florida State University. Major functions are to assist DOE in ensuring high-quality education for youth in juvenile justice education programs by

  • conducting quality assurance reviews (QARs) of the educational programs in Florida’s juvenile justice facilities
  • providing technical assistance to improve educational programs
  • conducting research that identifies promising educational practices

Juvenile Justice Educational Enhancement Program - Annual Report provides information regarding the progress DOE and DJJ have made towards developing effective educational programs in juvenile justice programs.

The report consists of:

  • recommendations for system improvement
  • legislated requirements of DJJ and DOE
  • profiles of students in DJJ programs
  • profiles of the quality assurance reviews, quality assurance outcomes, corrective actions, and technical assistance
  • ongoing research
  • funding of educational programs

Juvenile Justice Education Institute and Southern Conference on Corrections is an annual conference sponsored by the Florida Department of Education and the Florida State University, School of Criminology. The major goal of the conference is to bring together partners and key stakeholders with Department of Juvenile Justice Education Programs to help strengthen existing programs, to provide up to date professional development, and to facilitate access to resource development, all components that are essential to achieving our common goal of providing quality programs to Florida's juvenile education programs.

JJEEP Online is the website developed by the Juvenile Justice Education Evaluation Program. This site offers information for providers of juvenile justice programs, school district administrators, educational personnel, parents, citizens, and other parties interested in knowing how our program works to help at-risk youth.
