K-12 Student/Staff Data Quality Initiative
The Commissioner of Education is responsible for the development, implementation, management, and administration of an integrated information system for educational management as described in Section 1008.385(2), Florida Statutes (F.S.). Section 1005.385(2)(a)11, F.S., gives the Commissioner the specific responsibility of "establishing procedures for continuous evaluation of system efficiency and effectiveness." Further, school districts are required to have a management information system that is compatible with the state's system and are responsible for the accuracy of the data submitted to the Department.
The Department's ongoing Data Quality Initiative is directed toward maximizing the value, quality, and usability of K-12 student and staff information through improvement in the quality, accuracy, and integrity of information. The three areas upon which the Data Quality Initiative is focused include the following:
- Making Available Relevant Reports for all Districts
- Targeting High Profile Topics/Districts with Problem Areas
- On-site Data Quality Reviews
