Reinstatement: Eligible Subjects Chart

How to use this chart:

  • Find the subject area on the left that exactly matches the subject area shown on your expired Florida Professional Certificate.

  • Go to the column on the right to find the test that you take to reinstate that subject. The name of the test you take to reinstate that subject will also be the subject coverage shown on your reinstated certificate when all requirements are complete.

  • If two tests are shown for your subject in the right column, then you may take either test to reinstate. However, keep in mind that the subject shown on your reinstated certificate will match the test you take.
    Example
Emotionally Handicapped Exceptional Student Education (K-12)
English English (5-9) or English (6-12)

    (a) If your expired certificate shows Emotionally Handicapped, register for the Exceptional Student Education exam. If you pass the exam and complete remaining requirements for reinstatement, your reinstated certificate will show the coverage of Exceptional Student Education (K-12).
    (b) If your expired certificate shows English (any grade level), you may take either English test shown in the right column. If you choose the Middle Grades English 5-9 exam your reinstated certificate will reflect English (5-9); if you choose the English 6-12 exam, your reinstated certificate will reflect English (6-12).
