2007-08 Workforce Development Information System (WDIS) Database Handbook

Introduction:

The District WDIS Database Handbook is for use by the school districts, and offers guidance on the reporting of adult general education and postsecondary vocational education student data in the Workforce Development Information System (WDIS).

What is WDIS?

WDIS [Workforce Development Information System] is the Workforce Development reporting system and uses five reporting formats. Each format contains specific data elements required for gathering student and teacher data.

Secondary students are reported in WDIS when they are co-enrolled in the adult general education program. Secondary vocational education students are reported in the K-12 reporting system.

12/07/07 2007-08 WDIS Student Demographic Information:
Reject edit 16 and exception edit 80 have been modified to exclude a code value of 1, and include the code values of A and B for data element Resident Status, State/County .

2007-08 WDIS Adult General Education Student Course:
Edits 51 and 53 have been modified to include G and H as valid codes for the data element Financial Assistance Received .

2007-08 WDIS Vocational Student Course Schedule:
Edits 57 and 59 have been modified to include G and H as valid codes for the data element Financial Assistance Received .

2007-08 WDIS data element definitions:
Financial Assistance Received has been modified to include codes G and H, and the definition of code E has been modified to include grants.
02/06/08 The Submission Timeline has been updated to reflect the changes to WDIS End of Year Processing. The Survey 5 Submission period and Required load date have been corrected.

The WDIS Student Demographic format reject edit 23 has been updated to require an Adult Student Goal of A-J for programs 9900000, 9900010, 9900020, 9900120, 9900040, 9900051, S990000. Exception edit 82 has been deleted.

The WDIS End of Term Status format edit 21 has been corrected to include Diploma Type W27.
05/19/08 Vocational Student Course Schedule Edit # 60 deleted.
05/28/07 Appendix R replaced with corrected version.
07/10/08 Teacher Course Format Edit # 7 deleted.
